						                    | Gabriele Behr, now managing partner and majority shareholder, established S.E.T. in 1985 to launch and distribute the S.E.T. Canal Finder, a handpiece for the mechanical preparation of root canals using K- and H-Files. In the meantime the company has grown into a nationally and internationally renowned player in the field of endodontic devices. One of the leading products developed by the research team of dentists and engineers is the S.E.T. EndoStepper®, the first torque-controlled step motor for fast and precise root canal preparation. |

                      | As early as 1992 S.E.T. entered into collaboration with Siemens, market leader at the time and today trading as Sirona Dental Systems GmbH, which manufactures the device under licence as part of its TE Instruments programme. In 1999, S.E.T. began collaborating with Möller Wedel, Hamburg, market leaders in the field of microscopes. In 2000 S.E.T. concluded a cooperation agreement with VDW GmbH, Munich, market leader in the field of endodontic instruments. This agreement includes the marketing of the S.E.T EndoStepper® as a private label exclusively for rotating VDW instruments. In 2001 S.E.T. announced an exclusive sales and distribution partnership with established distributor Komet-Brassler covering sales of the S.E.T. EndoStepper® in Germany and Austria. |

                      | Olching-based S.E.T., in conjunction with training partner conzept GmbH, is also known for practical professional courses. These courses or "table-clinics" are established and recognised across Germany, and many universities have adopted them as part of their student training in endodontics. The emphasis here is on preparation for mechanical root canal treatment in the practice situation. Equipped with the mobile "table-clinics" and Möller-Wedel microscopes, conzept GmbH is the only firm in dentistry offering mobile vocational training at such a high level on a nationwide scale, as well as providing a diagnostic and therapeutic helpline. |

                      | The S.E.T. EndoStepper® is the safest endodontic motor system currently on the market. Its high precision drive technology means that direction of rotation, direction change, pauses, speed and moment of rotation can always be reproduced and exactly controlled. With the EndoStepper® root canal treatment with NiTi instruments is increasingly safe and popular. "Successful endodontics without stress" is one of the topics of the moment in the industry, and other international manufacturers of root canal instruments will be integrating the S.E.T. EndoStepper® into their ranges. |

											| A PC interface with the S.E.T. EndoStepper® allows the user to progressively extend the software for both endodontic and other uses. S.E.T.'s next market release will be a caries programme for "pain, noise and vibration-free drilling". It will allow the user to remove caries, working at steady speeds between 300 and 1000 rpm with a "pressure free drill" which operates until it hits sound dental mass and then stops. This programme will mark a decisive expansion in the field.
S.E.T. are also offering further developments in hardware. 2003 saw the launch of an intelligent instrument box, which allows the dentist to manage his or her instruments more effectively. The SET identy® box with its integrated Apex locator is the optimal extension for the S.E.T. EndoStepper® , tracking deterioration and preventing fatigue breakages. S.E.T.'s newest product is the SET adapty®, a universal clip with a file holder and an adaptor for root canal measurement

											| The team driving forward these concepts and collaborations is Gabriele Behr, Physicist and Educator, and Dr Karl Behr (Dr. med. dent.). Together with specialist consultants they are continually developing products and services for the practicing dentist. It goes without saying that the company slogan "Honed by Practice for the Practice" will retain its overriding importance in all future developments, marketing and training. | |
